Selecting A Winner

WINNING TRACK
WINNING GAME - BEAT HAZARD 2
MUSIC SUBMISSIONS

From almost 1,000 submissions received on Label Radar, the team created a shortlist of over 100 potential winners due to the high quality of music received. Thanks to the platform functionality, we were able to get through the high volume of submissions easily and quickly. The shortlist was then whittled down to a top 10, and a winner was selected from there which we thought would best fit the gaming title we had in mind from our wider discussions with Mimram.

GAME SUBMISSIONS

Mimram used their influence in the gaming world to compile a shortlist of 10 possible game titles for the project, from an assortment of indie game developers. The titles ranged from RPGs and racing games, to arcadestyle shoot 'em ups and fighting games.

The partners unanimously selected Beat Hazard 2 as the best fit for the project. It not only relied heavily on quality music, but also seemed like an ideal fit for Koven's production style.

VALVE/STEAM PARTNERSHIP

HIGH SCORE COMPETITION

We arranged for a high score competition to coincide with the week of the commercial release of the song. This competition allowed fans to compete for the top spot and win a section of prizes. The top 10 scores were then featured in the official music video ,and physical prizes were also provided by NCS & Koven which were distributed to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

IMPACT

We saw an explosion of interactivity in various Discord and Subreddit groups with players exchanging tips and tactics. Over 10,000 gamers specifically played our track ‘About Me’ before going on to play an average of 10 other tracks, accumulating over 150,000 games being played over the course of the weekend.

To light the fire, Mimram arranged several articles to go out in aming press about the contest.

OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO

An official music video was created to promote the song and video game through a meaningful piece of hero content.

BEHIND THE SCENES

A behind the scenes video was used to educate fans on the opportunity for subsequent years. This also helped build hype for the official music video release whilst also increasing fans' attachment to the song and process itself.
